The National Council for Social Studies has articulated Ten Themes to organize your work in the discipline. We find that thinking about Social Studies from this frame facilitates designing lessons around Essential Questions which in turn facilitates student learning. Click on a theme to be taken to a new page that has links to literacy resources that you can use in your classroom.
