Where is the Red Lake Indian Reservation located?

 

The Red Lake Indian Reservation is located in Beltrami and Clearwater counties, approximately 30 miles north of Bemidji.

With the reservation and other holdings of the Northwest Angle they have procession of a total of 825,654 acres.  That is larger than the state of Rhode Island.

The tribal government has full sovereignty over the reservation, subject only to federal legislation, which makes it a “closed” reservation.  They elect people to the Tribal Council and have their own form of government.
