Summary:

A young boy goes out early in the morning fishing with his dad to a nearby pond. They stop at a shop along the way to get bait, but they don't see the other men they often encounter early in the morning. The two fish in relative silence, the father telling the story about the pond he used to fish at in Vietnam, before the war. They catch enough fish that the father knows they will have food for dinner, a luxury that is not always true.
